Road to the Super Bowl: The Top Five Betting Favourites

most popular nfl teams in canada

There are 32 teams in the National Football League, and literally all of them have a chance of winning Super Bowl LXI. It might be a very small chance for rebuilding teams like the Arizona Cardinals, who sit dead last on the Super Bowl odds board at Ozoon as we go to press – but even as +100000 long shots, the Cardinals have an implied probability of 0.10% to walk away with the title. That’s about the same chance as a coin flip landing Heads 10 times in a row.

The next champions are much more likely to come from the top tier of the NFL futures market. If you add up the implied probabilities for the five leading Super Bowl LXI contenders at Ozoon, you get 47.6%. That’s still not quite a coin toss, but almost. Let’s take a closer look at each of these five powerhouses and see what they’re bringing to the table this year.

5. San Francisco 49ers (+1500)

The 49ers have been one of the NFL’s best teams under head coach Kyle Shanahan – when healthy. They lost a pair of Super Bowls to Kansas City, and made the NFC Championship Game on two other occasions, but the Niners also completely whiffed in 2020 and 2024, winning six games each of those years to finish last in the NFC West.

Injuries threatened to derail San Francisco’s 2025 campaign as well, but they stayed on track and went 12-5 (11-6 ATS) to make it back into the postseason. Then they upset the defending champion Philadelphia Eagles (–5.5 at home) in the Wild Card round before getting trounced 41-6 by the Seattle Seahawks (–6.5 at home).

Which version of the Niners will show up in 2026? QB Brock Purdy and RB Christian McCaffrey still form the backbone of their offence; TE George Kittle (Achilles) could return as early as their Week 1 opener in Melbourne versus the Los Angeles Rams, and the receiving corps brings back a familiar face in Deebo Samuel after a one-year exile in Washington – plus a veteran newcomer in ex-Tampa Bay WR Mike Evans, which should more than compensate for the loss of Ricky Pearsall (knee) for the season.

The real keys to victory are on defence, where edge rushers Nick Bosa and Mykel Williams are both recovering from knee injuries. Bosa could be back soon, but the latest buzz from Niners HQ suggests Williams will start 2026 on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list. DE Keion White has also sat out the past two weeks of training with an adductor issue. If San Francisco’s pass rush doesn’t come together soon, it could be another early trip to the golf course.

4. Baltimore Ravens (+1300)

Consistency will be even harder to come by for Baltimore (8-9 SU, 6-11 ATS last year) now that Jesse Minter has replaced long-time head coach John Harbaugh. The Ravens beat San Francisco at Super Bowl XLVII back in February 2013, and made the playoffs in six of their previous seven seasons under Harbaugh before crashing out in 2025-26. The silver lining: Minter was one of Harbaugh’s assistants on defence from 2017 through 2020. He was even the defensive co-ordinator for Harbaugh’s brother Jim at Michigan (2022-23) and again with the Los Angeles Chargers (2024-25).

The coaches have been shuffled, and a handful of players did follow John Harbaugh to his latest destination, the New York Giants. However, two-time league MVP Lamar Jackson is still the quarterback, RB Derrick Henry is still racking up yards at age 32, and WR Zay Flowers is one of several pass-catching threats for Jackson to target.

Then you have the arrival of stud edge rusher Trey Hendrickson in free agency. Baltimore had a deal in place with the Las Vegas Raiders to acquire Maxx Crosby, but they bailed after Crosby’s physical and signed Hendrickson instead – and maybe just as well. Hendrickson was a first-team All-Pro in 2024 with the Cincinnati Bengals after leading the league with 17.5 sacks, and despite playing just seven games in 2025 due to core muscle surgery, he should do wonders for the Ravens’ pass rush in 2026 and beyond. They deserve to be the AFC North favourites at even money – but can Baltimore win the Big Game with Jackson at the controls?

3. Seattle Seahawks (+1200)

The champs are here. The Seahawks were +6000 outsiders to win Super Bowl LX after signing Sam Darnold to take over for Geno Smith at quarterback, but their epic 2025 campaign was no fluke. Darnold “game-managed” Seattle to the NFC West title at 14-3 (12-5 ATS), then went pick-free during the playoffs, culminating in their 29-13 victory over the New England Patriots (+5.5) at Levi’s Stadium.

This all happened during Year Two of head coach Mike Macdonald’s tenure. As with Minter, Macdonald made the transition from defensive co-ordinator to take the top job for the first time, and those efforts paid off handsomely at Super Bowl LX, where Seattle blanked the Patriots through three quarters. Maybe that’s a more realistic timeline for Baltimore now that Minter’s aboard.

As for the Seahawks, they have to pay the Super Bowl tax. CB Riq Woolen (Philadelphia), DE Boye Mafe (Cincinnati) and safety Coby Bryant (Chicago) all left in free agency, as did RB Kenneth Walker III (Kansas City), the Super Bowl LX MVP. That’s the main reason the ‘Hawks find themselves in third place on this list instead of up top.

But there’s still room to grow for the remaining holdovers. And the front office has supported them with judicious draft picks (including Notre Dame RB Jadarian Price at No. 32) and one-year free agent contracts for the likes of LB Dante Fowler (ex-Dallas) and safety Rodney Thomas II (Indianapolis). If there’s a value pick among these top five Super Bowl contenders, you’re looking at it.

2. Buffalo Bills (+1000)

The Seahawks may be Canada’s favourite team out West – and the Niners may carry Kurtis Rourke as their third quarterback this year – but there’s no one more popular at Ozoon than the Bills (12-5 SU, 8-9 ATS). They’ll be even bigger up North if they can finally get over the hump and win that elusive first Super Bowl, after seven straight playoff trips with Josh Allen at quarterback.

Just like the Ravens, Buffalo will have to do it with a new head coach. Joe Brady takes over for Sean McDermott as the Bills move into fresh digs at Highmark Stadium. While McDermott was a defensive guru, Brady is one of this sport’s brightest offensive minds, and served as Buffalo’s QB coach (2022-23) and co-ordinator (2024-25) before getting his first crack at running the whole show.

Bills fans will also have to get used to some new faces. DJ Moore was brought in from Chicago to be their WR1, after a disappointing 2025 season from Keon Coleman and other receivers – but it’s incoming co-ordinator Jim Leonhard’s 3-4 defence that will see the most turnover. Will LB Bradley Chubb (most recently with Miami) regain the Pro Bowl form he had in Denver? Will second-rounder TJ Parker (No. 35 overall out of Clemson) pay immediate dividends at defensive end? It might take some time for Leonhard to sort everything out, but all the pieces are there for a deep playoff run.

1. Los Angeles Rams (+475)

It’s a bit strange to see the Rams (12-5 SU and ATS) this far ahead of everyone else. Yes, they traded for the two-time and reigning Defensive Player of the Year in Myles Garrett (ex-Cleveland), as well as All-Pro CB Trent McDuffie (Kansas City), and yes, LA signed McDuffie’s former cornerback partner Jaylen Watson in free agency. But the Rams also took Alabama QB Ty Simpson at No. 13 in the draft. Simpson will have to wait his turn behind Matthew Stafford, who signed for one more year at $55 million after winning league MVP honours for the first time.

We’re not saying Simpson was a bad pick – far from it. He might even end up making an impact this year, given how difficult it is for quarterbacks to stay healthy in this league. Still, the Rams have to navigate their way through San Francisco and Seattle (who beat them 31-27 in the Conference Championship Game as 2.5-point favourites) in the NFC West, and they’ll have to do it with a suspect special teams unit that incoming co-ordinator Bubba Ventrone needs to fix.

Head coach Sean McVay is a proven commodity, mind you. And there’s a very good chance that three-time DPOY Aaron Donald will be back at defensive tackle after putting his retirement on pause to work out with his former club. All this star power in one of the NFL’s biggest markets adds up to one giant mouthful of chalk for Rams bettors.
